Performing Arts Program
American Academy is proud to offer American Academy Performing Arts (AAPA), a program of extracurricular instruction, activities, and experiences to supplement and challenge students to excel in the performing arts. We aim to offer the most professional experience possible for each student as they develop confidence and poise on stage, attributes that translate into many education areas and promote exceptional life skills.
AAPA extracurricular opportunities are open to all students and feature instructors from around the community and from our exceptional, full-time performing arts team. Students can begin taking dance, theater, voice, and/or instrumental classes as early as Kindergarten.
Additionally, older students (grades 5-8) may pursue AAPA certification, a more focused option for learning. Certification requires enrollment in and completion of a sequenced AAPA program in one or more areas of study before 8th-grade graduation. This program will facilitate deeper understanding from a professional perspective, develop poise and confidence, and special recognition upon completion, including an introduction to high school performing arts staff.

AAPA Certificate Program Enrollment
AAPA certificate class enrollments occur throughout the year in four sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer). If less than 10 students enroll for a track or any given performing arts class, that class may be canceled and a refund issued. Unless a class is canceled by the school, enrollment, and participation fees are non-refundable.
Once a student has been registered for an AAPA certificate track, parents may schedule an appointment with an AAPA staff member who will help advise the student regarding courses to complete, potential substitutions, or alternative possibilities to help satisfy AAPA certificate requirements. Students should strive to achieve as much coursework as possible through AAPA offerings instead of substitutions.

American Academy Performing Arts Shines at Colorado Thespians Junior Thespian Conference
American Academy Performing Arts (AAPA) proudly recognizes the exceptional achievements of 20 cross-campus students who participated in the recent Colorado Thespians Junior Thespian Conference on December 7, 2023. Tailored for middle school students, the conference provided a dazzling platform for our talented individuals to showcase their theatrical prowess and learn from actively working theater professionals.
The conference spotlight was undeniably on the Individual Events (IEs), where 14 AAPA students demonstrated their skills. Among over 1000 Colorado participants, only seven students earned the privilege of performing on the main stage during the closing ceremonies. Remarkably, two Castle Pines students, 6th grader Noa Richardson and 8th grader Reese Pucciano, not only received superior ratings but also secured a coveted spot on the main stage. Their achievement is a testament to their dedication and exceptional talent and a groundbreaking moment for our school, marking an unprecedented accomplishment in the performing arts here at American Academy.
Congratulations extend to all participating students: Savannah Ballenger (CP), Darby Campbell (MB), Arshiya Dubey (MB), Teagan Fussner (MB), Callie Gossman (MB), Maggie Laird (CP), Cassandra Lewis (CP), Drew Merkel (LM), Cat Murphy (MB), Jeni Radford (LM), Emma Smith (MB), and Tudor Tanase (MB) each of whom contributed to the success of AAPA at the conference. Special mentions go to those who attended and continually contribute to AAPA, including Madeleine Boger (LM), Carys Johnson (CP), Wyatt Merkel (LM), Manuella Mickael (LM), Julianna Perez (CP), and Adeline Thompson (CP).
